illustrations of 2018-19
for me 2019 was the year of fundamentals. i took it upon myself to 'try to draw everything once' knowing full well that it's an impossible task, but it was good fun, and helped get me out of my comfort zone. there was always an intention to reprocess these digitally, but the project was to time prohibitive so it's been moved to the back burner for now.
apologies for the poor scan quality, the sketchbook these were in was to large for my scanner.
rocks, and mineral formations; definitely my favorite page- there's something satisfying on a primal level about looking at pritty rocks
mushrooms; the strangest living organisms on the planet from a biological perspective. its a plant, but made of animal cells and oxygen breathing.
flowers, look better than they smell, not as edible as they may appear, girls are usually big fans.
Fish; i love these eyebrow-less water monsters. their tasty and fun to draw- till you get to the scales and your teeth/OCD kick in and you just gotta power through.
non-fish water monsters; i end up finishing most pages with the bottom left empty because my the smudging risk became too great.
birds; i feel like the mocking bird didn't come out right- and that sucks kuz its my favorite bird.
rodents; im not happy with how the angora came out- but the jack rabet makes me feel better.
insects, probably my i was really hot to cold on this page, some were great fun- others were just disgusting and i ended the page early.
felines; tried to mix it up with this one, no reference memory only, and stylized linework. mixed results and weird proportions, but i'm happy with it.
